Electricity Generation Through Windmills

GEL owns Wind Power Generation Assets having aggregate clean electricity generation capacity of 123.9 Mega Watts (“MW”).

Wind Power Generation Assets comprise of the following:

  • 35 Wind Turbine Generators each having capacity of 1.5 MW aggregating to 52.5 MW Capacity located at Jakhau in Kutch District in Gujarat commissioned in July 2009 with a total capital investment of INR 319.03 Crores.
  • 9 Wind Turbine Generators each having capacity of 2.1 MW aggregating to 18.9 MW Capacity located at Jamanwada in Kutch District in Gujarat commissioned in March 2012 with a total capital investment of INR 105.84 Crores;
  • 2 Wind Turbine Generators each having capacity of 1.5 MW aggregating to 3 MW Capacity located at Adodar in Porbandar District in Gujarat commissioned in March 2011 with a total capital investment of INR 18.33 Crores;
  • 12 Wind Turbine Generators each having capacity of 1.5 MW aggregating to 18 MW Capacity located at Gorsar in Porbandar District in Gujarat commissioned in March 2011 with a total capital investment of INR 111.57 Crores;
  • 21 Wind Turbine Generators each having capacity of 1.5 MW aggregating to 31.5 MW Capacity located at Maliya-Miyana in Rajkot District in Gujarat commissioned in September 2010 with a total capital investment of INR 193.83 Crores;

GEL has in place, long term Power Purchase Agreements with Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited for all the aforesaid Wind Power Generation Assets and the electricity generated through these assets is sold to GUVNL under the said Power Purchase Agreements. The Operations & Maintenance for the Wind Power Assets is entrusted to Suzlon Energy Limited under separate O&M Contracts

Total Electricity generated through the Wind Power Assets during FY 2025-26 is 155.82 Million Units generating aggregate revenues of INR 54.23 Crores.
